Although I own numerous cookbooks, most of the recipes that are my “go-to” or “tried and true”, are the ones on recipe cards or pieces of paper that were given to me by family and friends. The other day, as I was filing through one of my notebooks filled with recipes, I came across this wonderful “Microwave Bread and Butter Pickles” recipe. When I saw it, I couldn’t help but get emotional. It was a handwritten recipe that my father gave me shortly before he passed away. What makes this recipe even more special is that it was given to him by my brother-in-law’s wonderful, sweet mom. A recipe that had been passed along from friend to relative and to many others. Reading the recipe, I could picture my dad in the kitchen doing what he loved; cooking and sharing amazing food with others. That is what I want to give you. Recipes and the stories behind them. Recipes that came from many of the people I have been blessed with in my life and the food we shared together at simple gatherings or special occasions.
